Canelo - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Atlanta, Georgia

Hi, I’m Canelo—a 3-year-old, 67-pound boy who’s still learning that the world isn’t as scary as it feels right now. The shelter environment has been really overwhelming for me, and I often freeze up, hide, or flinch when people try to interact.

But I’m trying. I take treats gently, I’ll accept soft pets in my kennel when I feel safe, and I’m showing little signs of hope. My kennel tech says I’m much easier to handle once I’m out of the shelter—like I just need space, kindness, and time to come back to myself. If you’re patient, gentle, and willing to go slow, I’d love a chance to learn what trust feels like.

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
