Meet Lucas!
Lucas is a 1-year-old, 9-pound male Poodle who is definitely still a puppy at heart! He is all go one minute and sound asleep the next. He loves, loves, loves chasing toys and will occasionally entertain himself by chasing his own tail. He also loves to chew on just about anything he can find—shoes, blankets, baskets, his own harness...you name it!
Lucas is still learning appropriate play manners. One of his biggest challenges is his tendency to play-bite hands, wrists, and arms. We are working VERY diligently on this behavior. While it is definitely playful and not aggressive, those little teeth can still hurt! Because of this, we do not recommend Lucas for a home with young children.
Lucas also loves to jump up on people when he gets excited, although he does know how to sit. Sometimes his excitement simply makes him forget! If you withhold the pets and attention, he quickly remembers that sitting gets him what he wants—and sometimes he will even flop himself down.
He is potty trained but can occasionally have an accident when he gets overly excited, especially when his people first come home and he is greeting them at the door.
Bath time isn’t his favorite but his groomer said he was a very good boy! He also has the most adorable little underbite.
When Lucas settles down, his personality really shines. He is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and cuddly. He sleeps on his own blanket, although he would much prefer to be snuggled up in his human’s bed!
Lucas walks well on a leash but will bark when he sees other dogs although he does great with the other dog at his foster home. We would absolutely love to see him in a home with another young playful dog. He has shown no aggression toward them, and this appears to be more of an excited desire to play. He has also shown no food or resource guarding.
Lucas is a fun, affectionate young dog who will need a family willing to continue working on his puppy behaviors and help him learn appropriate ways to channel all that excitement. Once he settles in, you’re rewarded with a very sweet and cuddly little companion!

All UnderDogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm checked, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and heartworm/flea/tick preventatives. For consideration for one or more dogs, we require that an on-line application is filled out.

Sorry, we do not adopt outside of Florida. Applicants are subject to a home visit, and veterinary references will be checked. Please include a vet reference (including phone number) when applying online.
Our application process:
FIRST, an application must be approved for adoption from our rescue.
SECOND, we determine whether the dog that has been applied for is a "good match" for the household that wants to adopt him/her. We take into consideration the dog's activity level, compatibility with other members of the household (human and other pets), etc.
If your application has been approved, but the dog you applied for is no longer available, please take the time and look over our adoptable dogs again. We will make every effort to find the right dog for an approved applicant.
