Stella - Chihuahua and Beagle Dog for Adoption in Bradenton, Florida

Stella came to Underdog as a young puppy, and we believe she is a Chihuahua mix, possibly a Cheagle (Chihuahua/Beagle mix). At just 4 months old and 8 pounds, she will likely grow to approximately 20 pounds as an adult.

Stella is already showing some wonderful Beagle traits. She is active, loves being outdoors, is excitable and playful, and absolutely loves being around people. She will happily follow you around all day and has never met a person she didn’t immediately want to approach and give kisses to! She is fun-loving and affectionate, and after playtime and exercise, she is more than happy to curl up in your lap for a belly rub and some cuddles.

She loves her leash walks, but we are hoping to find her a home with a securely fenced yard where she can safely run and explore. Chasing geckos is one of her favorite pastimes, and she is very interested in birds and squirrels on her walks, so a home without cats is required.

Because Stella is still a young puppy, she can nip and mouth when playing or seeking attention. This is very common puppy behavior and can continue until approximately a year of age. For that reason, a home with very young children would not be advised. She needs an active family who understands the time, patience, and training commitment that comes with raising a puppy.

Stella is very smart and already impressing us with her ability to find treats in some surprisingly complex games. Her adopter will need to continue her socialization, training, and work on good manners so that she can grow into the wonderful adult dog we know she has the potential to become.

She is currently housetrained and crate trained. She does very well in her crate overnight, for daytime naps, or in a puppy pen, and she travels well in the car.

Stella will be available for adoption once she receives her rabies vaccination at the end of this month, but we are starting to accept applications now. We are looking for an active home that will continue her training and socialization and give this bright, affectionate little girl all the love and guidance she needs to thrive!

Sorry, we do not adopt outside of Florida. Applicants are subject to a home visit, and veterinary references will be checked. Please include a vet reference (including phone number) when applying online.

Our application process:
FIRST, an application must be approved for adoption from our rescue.
SECOND, we determine whether the dog that has been applied for is a "good match" for the household that wants to adopt him/her. We take into consideration the dog's activity level, compatibility with other members of the household (human and other pets), etc.
If your application has been approved, but the dog you applied for is no longer available, please take the time and look over our adoptable dogs again. We will make every effort to find the right dog for an approved applicant.
