Miniature Dachshund and Chihuahua Dogs Available for Adoption in Williamsburg, Virginia

Iris will be ready for her new home soon! She came to us with her newborn puppies and has been an exceptional mama. Her babies are now thriving and preparing for their own homes. She will be ready to start her next chapter soon, too. She is up to date on vaccines, has been dewormed, and is microchipped. If her recovery timeline allows and she remains with us long enough post‑birth, Iris will be spayed before adoption. If not, we will work closely with her adopter to ensure her spay surgery is scheduled as soon as her body is ready.

Iris came from a pretty bad situation, but she has done very well since coming to Homes Fur Hounds. She is about 6 years old and weighs roughly 15 pounds. Our best guess on her breed mix is Chihuahua/Dachshund—also known as a Chiweenie! She’s doing wonderfully with housebreaking and has great manners overall. Iris is very friendly with everyone she meets and gets along well with dogs her own size. Large dogs can make her a bit shy at first, but as long as they’re friendly, she warms up quickly. She’s also kitty‑curious. In her foster home, she’s given the cats a playful chase, but after one well‑placed swat, she wisely decided retreat was the better option.

This sweet girl is SMART and loves cuddling and happily sleeps in her foster mom’s bed each night. She’s a good eater, sleeps through the night, and is generally a very easy companion. This gal also LOVES to sit in the sun and relax. A sunny window or yard is a must to keep this gal happy!!!

Now for a couple of important (and slightly impressive) quirks: Iris is an exceptional climber. If a gate or fence is under four feet tall, she can scale it—watching this pint‑sized pup climb is truly something to see! She’s also an enthusiastic digger. If there’s a mole in your yard… consider both the mole and the lawn on borrowed time. She is determined and relentless!
