DESCRIPTION

Meet Wendy — 20 Pounds of Pure Sweetness!

Looking for a sweet, affectionate little companion who loves people AND other dogs? Meet Wendy!

Wendy is an adorable 20-pound Maltese/Poodle mix (our best guess!) with a loving personality and a heart that's ready to belong to someone special.

Wendy came to Day of the Dogs from the Amish in mid Missouri. Now that she's getting the opportunity to experience life as a cherished family pet, she's showing everyone what a wonderful little dog she truly is.

And let us tell you—Wendy is a sweetheart!

Unlike some former breeding dogs who need a lot of time to become comfortable with people, Wendy is already wonderfully social. She happily approaches people for attention and loves being petted. She's the kind of dog who makes it easy to fall in love with her.

Wendy is currently living in a foster home with two other small dogs, and she's doing beautifully! She enjoys playing with her canine companions and gets along well with them. We think she'd be a wonderful addition to a home with another friendly dog, although her affectionate personality could also make her a lovely companion for someone looking for a little best friend.

A few things to know about Wendy:

- People-loving: She willingly approaches people for pets and affection.

- Dog-friendly: She lives with two other small dogs and enjoys playing with them.

- Wonderful size: At approximately 20 pounds, she's a great size for someone looking for a smaller companion.

- Sweet and affectionate: Wendy genuinely enjoys human companionship and being part of the family.

One little thing that makes Wendy unique: She has an old injury to one of her eyes. We've had her evaluated by two different veterinarians, who determined that it is an old wound with no treatment indicated. It's simply part of Wendy's story, and it certainly doesn't make her any less lovable!

After spending part of her life as a breeding dog, Wendy deserves the opportunity to experience all the wonderful things that come with having a family of her own.

A soft bed.

A cozy spot beside her favorite person.

A few toys and perhaps a canine playmate.

And most importantly, someone who loves her simply for being Wendy.

She has already spent time being a mama. Now it's Wendy's turn to be someone's baby.

If you're looking for a friendly, loving little dog who is ready to share her heart with you, Wendy would love to meet you!

Basics: She is a spayed female guessed to be around 4 yrs old and she weighs close to 20lbs. She is currently in a foster home in Gladstone, MO with 2 other small poodles.

About Day of the Dogs
Day of the Dogs is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping shelter and rescue dogs find safety, families, and second chances.
Founded in 2015 by a Kansas City native, Day of the Dogs began after Pam moved to Houston, Texas and witnessed firsthand the devastating shelter overcrowding crisis facing southern communities, where some shelters have only days to find an outcome for homeless pets.
Today, Day of the Dogs coordinates life-saving transports from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and other southern areas to rescue partners, shelters, fosters, and adopters in Northwest Indiana/Chicagoland and the Kansas City region — communities where adoption demand can help create better outcomes for pets in need. We also focus on long stay dogs in the Greater Kansas City and surrounding rural areas to help those pets get out of kennels and into homes.
We also facilitate direct adoptions through our foster networks in both Kansas City and Northwest Indiana and partner with shelters and rescue organizations across Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, and Indiana to save more lives together.
Because every open foster home creates another opportunity to save a dog, we are always looking for foster families to join our mission.
Day of the Dogs operates entirely on donations. Every transport, veterinary appointment, supply purchase, and life saved is possible because of supporters who believe every dog deserves a chance.
