Falkor is a 14-week-old Maltese/Yorkie mix weighing just 5 pounds—and yes, he’s as adorable as he sounds. This tiny pup is playful, affectionate, and full of personality. He’s been well socialized with humans, cats, and other dogs, and he loves being part of the action.
Falkor was born deaf, which makes him a very special little guy looking for a dedicated and patient adopter. Deaf dogs can live full, happy lives, but they require intentional training and commitment. Falkor will need a home ready to use hand signals and positive reinforcement to help him learn and communicate. Early training and structure will be key to helping him grow into a confident, well-adjusted adult.
Because he cannot hear danger cues, Falkor will need a safe, secure environment and close supervision, especially outdoors. A fenced yard or careful leash handling is important for his safety.
What Living with a Deaf Dog Looks Like
• Using hand signals and visual cues instead of verbal commands
• Getting your dog’s attention through gentle touch or vibration (like tapping the floor)
• Keeping a consistent routine to build confidence and understanding
• Providing a secure environment (leash walks, fenced yard, supervision outdoors)
• Being mindful not to startle them—approaching within their line of sight when possible
• Committing to ongoing training and patience, especially during puppyhood
• Celebrating a dog who is often extra attentive and deeply bonded to their person
Despite his special needs, Falkor is just like any puppy—he loves to play, explore, and snuggle. He’s already showing how adaptable and bright he is, and with the right guidance, he will thrive.
He is still working on house-training, but just the same as any other puppy his age, he does well when given potty breaks every 2 hours. Falkor is vaccinated and routinely treated for parasites. He will be neutered when he is a few months older. The adoption fee is $450.
Falkor is looking for a home that understands the responsibility of raising a puppy and is committed to supporting a deaf dog with patience and love. If you’re ready to invest the time, training, and care Falkor needs, you’ll be rewarded with a loyal, loving companion who will grow alongside you.
