Meet Ruckus: The Big-Eyed Goofball with an Old Soul

At just 10–12 weeks old and around 10 pounds, Ruckus is a Brussels mix who was rescued from a shelter and is already making a big impression in his foster home. With his oversized head, buggy eyes, and confident little strut, he looks like he walked straight out of a Disney movie— and his personality is just as entertaining. Ruckus has “big dog energy” in a small, bizarro puppy body, and he keeps everyone laughing with his antics and joyful spirit.

Ruckus sleeps soundly through the night in his cozy dog bed inside his puppy pen, where he has access to water and potty pads. He’s quiet as a mouse overnight, but in the morning he’ll start making gentle signaling noises and light whines to let you know he’s awake and ready to start the day. Around 7:30 a.m., he greets his foster mom with enthusiastic tail wags, happy hops, and a whole lot of excitement to see his people. From there, he dashes outside with the rest of the pack, eager to join the fun. He’s still learning the ropes of potty training, but when he does go outside, he gets a big celebration— and he absolutely lives for that praise.

Breakfast is one of Ruckus’s favorite parts of the day. This little guy loves food and will happily scarf down his kibble in his pen (and, if given the chance, sample what everyone else is having too). After that, it’s time for playtime. Like any young puppy, Ruckus plays hard—he loves chasing games, zooming around the yard, and proudly carrying toys. It took him a few days to build confidence with his energetic foster brother, but now he happily instigates play and is wonderfully respectful of other dogs’ boundaries. When the older dog tells him “no thanks,” he takes the hint like a polite little gentleman.
Despite his playful nature, Ruckus is a surprisingly easy puppy. He knows how to settle himself for naps in a nearby dog bed and can relax quietly with a chew stick when placed in his pen, even if his people step into another room. He enjoys being part of the pack and following the lead of the other dogs, but he’s not overly needy.

Personality-wise, Ruckus truly feels like an old soul wrapped in a puppy’s body. From day one, he has been affectionate, curious, and eager to be around people. When he gets especially excited, he pops up on his back legs like a tiny boxer, ready to say hello. He enjoys cuddles, though he often uses snuggle time to gently nibble on fingers until he’s ready to settle into the cuddle pile for a nap. He’s bold and brave with new experiences, happily exploring his surroundings and greeting new people, but he’ll occasionally glance back for reassurance if things get overwhelming.

Ruckus is playful and energetic in that classic puppy way, but he’s not over-the-top. He naturally alternates between bursts of fun and well-timed naps, making him a great fit for a home ready to guide him through puppyhood. He would likely do well with children who are comfortable around a teething puppy and could live with other dogs who enjoy playful companionship. He may try to play with a cat at first, but he doesn’t seem to have a strong prey drive.

What really sets Ruckus apart is his joyful, goofy presence. He parades around the house with confidence, always watching his people with those hilarious, wide eyes to see what will earn him the coveted “good boy” praise. He’s learning the magic of belly rubs, and there’s one special scratch spot on his rump that makes his leg kick with pure delight. In the evenings, he insists on claiming a cozy perch on the couch—preferably on top of pillows—where he can snooze happily alongside his pack.

Ruckus is simply a delightful puppy: affectionate, funny, eager to please, and full of personality. He’s ready for a family who will help him learn, grow, and continue discovering just how wonderful life can be.
