DESCRIPTION

Meet Blondie! Blondie is an adorable almost 4 year old cream colored yellow lab with lots of love to give! Blondie started her life on a breeding farm and had a few litters before she was surrendered to Brookline. She has been in foster care for just over 3 weeks and has become a well-adjusted house pet who is now looking to find a forever home where she can bring her big, beautiful personality.

Blondie is an exuberant girl with lots of energy and a tail that rarely stops wagging. She is fully house trained, loves to go for walks, chase balls, and play with her toys. She also gets along very well with a similar aged resident Labrador Retriever in her foster home. Frequent zoomies are in order when they are together. A fenced yard would be nice so that she can run around and play fetch, but is not required as long as she has a plan in place to get her exercise on walks and playtime at a dog park or another fenced area.

Blondie would love a family that will be home with her most of the time (or able to take her with them wherever they go – she is very good in the car!). She can be left alone for up to 4 hours, but would much prefer to be with her people as she thrives on human attention. She does not need another dog in the home, but enjoys the company if there is one.
Because Blondie has a lot of energy and strength, a home with toddlers may not be a great fit due to the chance that she might inadvertently knock them down. She likes men, women and kids and should be comfortable with any family set ups.

Blondie is on the heavy side (112 pounds) which comes from her former life having litters of puppies and living in a situation without regular exercise. For her safety, our vet recommends that she loses enough weight to get down to 100 pounds or below before undergoing her spay surgery. Given this weight loss goal, Blondie is not yet spayed and will be adopted out with a contract requiring that her new owner has her spayed once her weight is low enough to ensure a safe surgery. So, she does come with some instructions and requirements to lose weight for her spay which means she needs a family who will be careful with her calories and get her lots of exercise.

Are you ready to be Blondie’s forever family? She promises a lifetime of wags, smiles, and happy moments.
