DESCRIPTION

Jade, Josie, and Ruby Female Lab Puppies Born on January 22. Lab Rescue will coordinate spay with Adopter

Meet Jade, Josie, and Ruby
As of July 1, they are very new to the program.
Ruby has been with a foster for close to two weeks now, while Jade and Josie just went into foster homes over the last few days.

They were part of an unplanned litter. Born to Lab parents that are remaining with the family (mom is a black Lab, dad is chocolate see photo). They are all very sweet puppies and have been wonderfully socialized, meaning they love people and are ready to bond!

Because they didn't get the best start in life or a routine in their previous home, they are starting from scratch on the basics. Families should be ready for the typical puppy package, a very busy transition period filled with plenty of patience for potty training, messes, and crying. And of course, the reward of puppy wiggles and kisses.

We want the puppies to go to homes where their family is around a lot. They would be fine in homes with another (adult) dog and children. Adopting a young puppy is much like having a newborn baby in the home: very demanding of care and attention. Young puppies quickly grow up and become rowdy juveniles that need lots of exercise, structure, and patience from their humans.
Think patience, consistency, and routine, providing clear boundaries and rewarding positive behavior.

What their fosters are saying:
Ruby arrived as a thoughtful, observant pup who wasn't quite sure what to do with toys. Within a few days, she blossomed. Now she proudly scatters toys throughout the house and backyard and loves playing tug of war with our 10-year-old female Lab. She's learning how fun life can be, and its wonderful to watch her confidence grow. She is quickly picking up several foundational cues, including Lets go potty, leave it, Off, and Come.

She's a smart little girl who wants to please and responds especially well to gentle guidance and positive reinforcement.

They were loved in their previous home and, hence, are very sweet and enthusiastic towards everyone. Very good with dogs. A little timid on walks on her own but loves going out with the pack. Has some separation anxiety which manifests itself as crying and whining when she's not with her people. Relatively calm otherwise for such a young pup. Don't think she will be overly rambunctious when she's a teenager.
Jade is a real cuddler.

Medical.
The pups appear to be in good health. They will need to be quarantined in their homes and backyards 1-2 weeks after they receive their DHPP booster (21-28 July) so they are not exposed to parvo and other diseases.

They currently have an appointment in mid-July for their boosters.

Lab Rescue will coordinate future spay with adopter. The existence of a safe/secure backyard may be a factor in selecting adopters.

Puppies are located:
In individual foster homes in San Mateo, Danville, and Novato.

If you want to apply to adopt one of the puppies, please contact Rescue Rep Kris at krisellen.nm@gmail.com
