Archie 4-year-old male black Lab (mix?) 86 lbs Neutered
Background.
Archie was adopted out as a puppy four years ago to this wonderful family, but he has shown a propensity for growling/snarling at little people (children) when they got a little too close to him... and he recently nipped a young child in the lip. His family reluctantly felt it best to find Archie a new forever home

What Archie's former owners says.
Archie is house-broken and has never had an accident since he was a little puppy. He loves to eat, so we don't leave food out for any temptation. However, he does not counter surf. He is crate trained and we use it just out of habit when we are gone for any longer period of time as it is a really large crate and gave him plenty of room. But he would probably just sleep on the couch otherwise.
Archie is not destructive and has not been a chewer since he was a puppy. He doesn't even tear up his toys unless by accident when playing tug of war. Occasionally he will grab something he's not supposed to have to get your attention. He likes to play keep away and run around the table with it. He sleeps in our adult bedroom on his bed next to me, mom. He typically sleeps all night (11 pm-7 am) without needing to go outside unless he has tummy issues. He eats his meals on the porch and wants breakfast before he goes pee in the morning! When the weather is nice, we leave our front door open most days and Archie goes in and out as he wishes into his fenced area.
He loves to lay out in the sun to nap and also play guard/alert dog for any of the wild animals on our property or when the delivery drivers come up the driveway, but he is always excited when they give him attention or bring him a treat through the fence.
More from Archie's former owners.
Archie LOVES balls and his toys. He could play catch for hours. He knows where his basket of toys is and will dig through it to find just what he wants. No tennis ball is ever safe with Archie around. He also loves to play tug of war with his toys. He has had the same snuggle puppy since he was a puppy. We call it baby and he knows exactly what to get if you tell him to go get his baby. He uses it to decompress from time to time. We always leave it with him on his bed or if we are out of the house. He does not like to use it as a tug of war toy; it is just his personal pacifier. He loves his walks and gets at least one walk a day.
He's not much of a jogger. He might run for a little bit but then stops. He waits for daddy to take him on his daily walk after work each day. And he never lets you forget that it is 5 PM and time for his dinner. If we don't feed him by 5 he lets us know by following us around and barking. Archie is physically very strong. He's a great swimmer as long as he can get in/out of the water easily with a dock or larger steps. He knows many commands. The words "dinner", "treat" and "food" definitely perks his ears up. He also knows the words "walk" and "car" (he gets very excited if we ask if he wants to go on a walk or for a car ride, which he jumps right up in the back to go). Archie does not have good recall and will make a break for it if he has a chance. He always goes to the same street behind our house to see what other dogs are home. He cannot be left outside in the open with us unless he is on a long leash.
He loves to be petted, and his ears rubbed but is weirded out about his paws being cleaned or his rear being cleaned if needed. Archie has always gotten along well with all adults. But there is something with children, he is anxious around them and they can put him on edge. As long as kids steer clear, he does his own thing, he doesn't actively go after them. We have only had issues when kids get in his space. Archie is absolutely an amazing dog except for his issues with children.
What Archie's foster says.
Archie is well trained and well behaved. He clearly wants to engage with his people and loves to play ball. Recall is not an issue with a ball involved. No problems with other dogs or people.
What Archie's Rescue Rep says.
An awesome dog so long as small children do not invade his space. Needs a home without children. Should be fine in a home with an existing dog. Does need lots of exercise. He is a big strong dog, so not a good fit for anyone unstable on their feet. Not sure how Archie is with cats.
Medical.
In fine health. Currently on vaccinations, taking heartworm preventive, neutered, and microchipped
Archie is located in: El Cerrito.
