If you're looking for a puppy with a big personality, a smart brain, and an even bigger heart, Mister Lief may be your perfect match!

Approximately 10 weeks old and weighing about 16 pounds, this handsome Lab mix is the largest of his litter. His sweet, medium-sized yellow Lab mom has a wonderful temperament, and it's easy to see where Lief gets his loving nature.

Like any happy puppy, Lief is full of curiosity and playful energy and loves being part of whatever his people are doing. He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home and especially enjoys following his humans around--particularly if there's yard work involved! He takes his job as your little helper very seriously.

Lief is a smart boy who catches on quickly and is already learning his basic commands. He enjoys training, is eager to please, and loves showing off what he knows.

Crate training is going well, too. At first, he wasn't shy about voicing his opinion when it was bedtime, but thanks to his foster's patience and consistency (and not giving in to those adorable puppy eyes!), Lief now settles nicely and sleeps through the night.

Mister Lief is looking for a family ready for all the fun, laughter, and adventures that come with raising a puppy. He'll need continued training, socialization, and plenty of love as he grows into what will likely be a medium-to-large adult dog. In return, you'll gain a loyal companion who will happily be by your side for whatever the day brings.

Age: 11 weeks as of 7/2
Weight: 16 lbs on 7/2 (expected to be in the 70 lb range at adulthood)
Spayed/Neutered: Too young - Spay/Neuter Contract will be required and strictly enforced.
Vaccinations: Puppy vaccines will be up to date. All vaccinations required after adoption are the adopter's responsibility.
Heartworm: Too young (testing is done at 6 months of age)
Housetrained: Not usually
Microchipped: Yes

Puppy Adoption Fee: $600.00 (includes transport fee when applicable)
$100-150 additional mandatory quarantine fee applies to Massachusetts residents.

Adoption Fee Includes:
~ A spay/neuter surgery rebate, paid to the adopter once proof of surgery is provided to Paws New England. We are happy to provide a list of low-cost spay/neuter clinics upon request.
~ Transportation to New England, when applicable.
~ Pre-adoption veterinary care includes age-appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter (when completed prior to adoption), heartworm testing and treatment (if needed), and a microchip.

Attention Puppy Adopters: Training is an important part of raising a happy, well-adjusted dog. Unless you are an experienced dog owner and your Adoption Coordinator is comfortable with your experience, you will be required to attend puppy training and/or behavior classes. This requirement benefits both you and your puppy by providing the tools and support to build a successful, lifelong relationship.

Please Think Carefully Before Adopting a Puppy - Puppies are adorable--but they are also a lot of work! Before applying, please consider whether you're ready for the commitment
~ Puppies cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours at a time while they are young.
~ Your home will need to be puppy-proofed.
~ Puppies chew, scratch, nip, and have accidents while learning.
~ If you have young children, consider whether they are prepared for normal puppy behavior.
~ Consistent training, socialization, exercise, and patience are essential.

Important Information: Paws New England is a foster-based rescue. Our dogs are cared for in foster homes throughout the South and New England.

Your adoption donation helps cover veterinary care, transportation, and other expenses for your adopted dog. It also helps us continue to save senior dogs and dogs with serious medical needs or injuries. While their adoption donations are often reduced, their veterinary costs are typically much higher.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher.
