Tanner - Labrador Retriever and Pit Bull Terrier Dog for Adoption in Oswego, Illinois

Meet Tanner!
2.5 years old
55 lbs Neutered
Vaccinated

Tanner is a fun-loving, energetic, toy-obsessed boy who is ready to find his forever family!

At 2 years old, Tanner has plenty of personality and enthusiasm for life. He loves playing with other dogs, chasing toys, going on long walks, and soaking up attention from his people. He’s a social guy who enjoys having a canine playmate, although he may occasionally try to steal a toy or two from his friends. Sharing isn’t necessarily his strongest skill!

Tanner has been doing wonderfully with his house manners. He has had zero accidents in his crate or in the house. He’s also making great progress with his manners and training. One of his favorite accomplishments is mastering his release command, “BREAK!” He now knows to sit and wait at his crate, exterior doors, and even before crossing the street until he’s given permission to go. What a smart boy!

Tanner walks pretty nicely on a leash without excessive pulling and would love a family who enjoys getting outside and keeping him active. He’s a higher-energy dog who will appreciate regular exercise, playtime, and plenty of toys.

He’s generally calm around children, but because of his size and enthusiastic play style, a home with older children would likely be the best fit.

A home with cats may not be ideal. Tanner generally leaves them alone, but he has occasionally shown interest in chasing them, so we would recommend a cat-free home.

As for his quirks? The crate isn’t exactly his happy place. He may need a little encouragement (or bribery!) to go inside and might whimper if his people are nearby. He’s also not particularly food motivated and can be quite picky about treats. But give this boy some attention, toys, and affection, and you’ve found the way to his heart!

Tanner is a big, lovable goofball with lots of energy, a playful spirit, and so much potential. He’s looking for an active family who will continue working with him, include him in their adventures, and give him all the love and attention he deserves.

Could Tanner be your new best friend?
