My name is Christina, and sadly, our family has to find a new home for our 2.5 year old charcoal Labrador, Exodus. He is quite handsome,, weighs about 65 pounds, was neutered in August, and is up to date on his vaccinations.
Shortly after we brought Exodus home, I began experiencing allergies that have progressively worsened and are now causing severe breathing difficulties. I have had to move out of our house several times to allow my lungs to clear.
Sadly, despite trying just about every option, we can think of, I have found that I am severely allergic to Exodus dander and I’m not able to spend the time with him that we would like to, and that he needs. We have made the very difficult decision to rehome him..
Exodus is a very sweet, loving dog who absolutely adores our 13 year old daughter. He has not been around children younger than 8 years old, and because of his high energy level and
tendency to get excited, we feel he would do best in a home with children ages 8 and older.
He loves other dogs and would thrive with an active family that can provide plenty of exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation. Experience with energetic breeds would be ideal. Having another energetic, playful dog in the home would be a wonderful bonus because
he loves having a buddy to play with! He could also do well as the only dog, as long as his family is committed to meeting his physical and mental
Exodus is crate trained, although he has recently been given the freedom to sleep wherever he wants in the house at night. Except in our bedroom. .During the day, while we're at work, he stays
in the kitchen with our other dog and does well.
He could return to using a crate during an adjustment period in a new home. No blankets please as he loves new toys. Good morning.
Exodus is a smart boy who loves learning new things! He will need a family committed to continued training to help him manage his excitement, focus on commands, and develop good manners. He responds well to praise and
He needs work on his leash manners. He gets very excited on walks and pulls HARD! At this time, only my husband feels comfortable walking him because of his strength.
With time, patience, and boundaries he will learn all of the good behaviors of an adult labrador.
Health Information
Overall, Exodus is healthy. He tested positive for Lyme disease over a year ago. He has never shown any symptoms and has never required treatment. Our veterinarian advised us that he may continue
to test positive for several years but has concerns about his health
Exodus is happiest when he is playing, getting belly rubs, fetching his favorite squeaky tennis balls, going for car rides, or simply being included in whatever you're doing.
He is such a fun dog! He is curious, playful, silly, and always ready for whatever adventure our daughter comes up with. We have had other dogs over the years, and one of the things she loves most about Exodus is just how much fun he is and how he can turn
almost anything into a game.
He has so much love and personality to give and would make a wonderful addition to the right family. With an active home, consistent training, plenty of attention, and someone who understands his energy level, we believe he has so much potential to thrive.
If you think Exodus might be a good fit for your family, or if you would simply like more information about him, please abbykirkland77@gmail.com. She is helping Exodus and can put you in touch with us if he’s a potential fit..
This is a private option and LELRR is helping to facilitate. No application is necessary, however, please be prepared to provide Vet records for any current passed animals.
