Leeland has been waiting far too long for someone to see the special dog he truly is. Found as a stray in Houston, TX, he ended up in an overcrowded shelter and was heartbreakingly placed on the euthanasia list. He was rescued just in time — and now he’s patiently hoping for the family who will finally choose him.

Leeland is about 5–6 years old and weighs around 65 lbs. When he first meets new people, he’s shy and unsure — the world hasn’t always been kind. When I first met him, he quietly hid behind his foster, too nervous to come say hello. But with a little time and kindness, his true personality shines through: gentle tail wags, soft kisses, and sweet bursts of playful energy.

While his foster has been away, Leeland’s been staying at a boarding facility, where he’s impressed everyone with his gentle spirit and resilience. He’s been a total gentleman with the staff, enjoys playing with other dogs, and takes treats ever so delicately.

Leeland is searching for a calm, understanding home — a place where he can feel safe and loved at his own pace. Once he trusts you, he’ll give you his whole heart.
