Mattie Minnie Riperton - Labrador Retriever and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Friendswood, Texas

Mattie Minnie Riperton may be young, but she already knows exactly who she is - and she's not afraid to lead. This four-month-old lab mix lives with her sister, a chocolate lab, and according to their foster mom, Mattie is the more outgoing of the two, naturally stepping into the leader role between them.

Mattie and her sister play beautifully together, and they're both well adjusted to life in a busy foster home with other dogs around. Mattie knows how to bring the energy - she plays all day, chasing, wrestling, and exploring to her heart's content - but she also knows when it's time to wind down, taking her own breaks and resting when she needs to recharge. Their foster mom notes that both girls can focus and settle when called, showing real promise for a patient adopter willing to put in the training time.

Underneath all that puppy energy is a total softie. Mattie is deeply affectionate, the kind of pup who melts right into your arms the moment you pick her up, and she's got a serious love for belly rubs. She's equal parts confident leader and cuddly companion, and she's ready to bring both sides of her personality into the right home.

Mattie Minnie Riperton is looking for: A loving home ready for a playful, affectionate leader of the pack - belly rub requests included.

We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap - ranging from $100-$1,000+ per dog.

The Labrador Retriever is a popular and versatile dog breed known for its friendly demeanor and high intelligence. These dogs are often used as guide dogs for the visually impaired, search and rescue dogs, and excellent family pets. Labradors are known for their great sense of smell, strong build, and love of water, making them exceptional hunters and swimmers. With their loyal and loving nature, Labradors have rightfully earned their reputation as one of the most beloved dog breeds in the world.

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
