Benny Freckles is the kind of dog whose sweetness sneaks up on you. At first, he may quietly take in his surroundings and watch from a comfortable distance, but give him a little time and you will soon notice him taking tiny steps closer, gently asking for affection in the softest way. Between his precious freckled nose, sweet face, and naturally gentle spirit, it is easy to understand why everyone who visits his foster home immediately falls in love with him.

Benny is approximately 2 years old and currently weighs around 33 pounds, making him the perfect smaller-sized companion. We are unsure exactly what breeds created his adorable looks, but with animal rescue, breed and age are always a mystery and our best guesses.
With people, Benny is incredibly sweet and gentle, although he can be a little shy when meeting someone new or entering an unfamiliar environment. He simply needs a little time to get the lay of the land and become comfortable with the people around him. Before long, he will begin taking those adorable baby steps toward you and quietly asking for affection. Even the way he seeks out love is soft and tender. His foster family says that every visitor who meets him immediately falls in love, and we have a feeling his future family will feel exactly the same way. Benny has also spent time around his foster family’s grandchildren and is every bit as gentle with them as he is with adults. Because he can be reserved and appreciates a calmer introduction, we believe he would likely feel most comfortable with children around 8 years old and older rather than very young toddlers.
Benny is dog friendly and has done well with every dog we have introduced him to. He is currently fostered in a multi-dog household and gets along wonderfully with all of his foster family’s personal dogs. Other dogs help Benny feel more confident, and he often opens up fastest when he has a canine friend nearby to show him that everything is okay. We would love to see him in a home with another friendly dog, although it is not necessarily required for the right family. When Benny feels ready to play, his style is just as gentle as the rest of him. He enjoys lighthearted games of chase, a little easygoing physical play, and occasionally even a game of tug-of-war with one of his foster siblings. He is also perfectly happy roaming around the backyard with his dog friends, exploring all the interesting smells, or finding a sunny spot where he can stretch out and soak up the warmth.
Benny also met our house cat Biggie and handled the introduction beautifully. He was appropriate and respectful, never tried to chase Biggie, and remained relaxed while Biggie jumped around and did normal cat things. Biggie appeared comfortable around Benny as well. We do not know whether Benny has ever lived with a cat, and this was our first time seeing him interact with one. If you have a cat at home, we can arrange for Benny to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know!
This little gentleman has wonderful house manners. His foster family considers him fully potty trained, and he is crate trained and generally comfortable resting in his crate. He walks well on a leash, rides nicely in the car, and already knows how to sit. Benny may not be overly interested in toys yet, but he absolutely loves treats and takes them from your hand with the gentlest little mouth.
With his quiet and relaxed demeanor, Benny has the potential to do well in an apartment as long as he receives regular walks and opportunities to explore. He would also thrive in a home with a backyard where he could sniff around, relax in the sunshine, and spend time with his family. If you work from home, he could make a wonderful little office buddy who quietly keeps you company throughout the day.
We are willing to test Benny Freckles with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.
