Cherry Blossom has one of those faces that's almost unfair. Seriously... between her soft brown eyes, those perfectly perky ears, and that sweet little expression, she somehow manages to look like the most innocent puppy on the planet. Then she gets comfortable, grabs a toy, zooms around the yard, flops over for belly rubs, and reminds you she's still very much a happy, playful puppy. She has such a wonderful balance about her, and it's one of our favorite things about her.

Cherry is believed to be approximately 1 year old and currently weighs around 30 pounds. As with any rescue dog, her exact breed is always a mystery, but our best guess is she's a Lab/German Shepherd mix. Whatever combination created her also gave her a beautiful golden coat, expressive ears, a heart-melting smile, and a personality that's every bit as lovely as she is.
One of our favorite things about Cherry is how nicely she balances playtime with downtime. She's absolutely still a puppy and enjoys playing with toys, exploring the yard, and having fun, but she also knows how to settle down and simply enjoy being with her people. She's the kind of dog that can spend time entertaining herself with a toy and then happily wander over to curl up beside you for some love. And if you're lucky, she'll roll over onto her back like a little person, completely relaxed and waiting for belly rubs. It's one of the cutest things she does.
Cherry is currently fostered with another dog and has also spent time meeting several other dogs during her assessment. She was very polite and submissive throughout her introductions, happily following the other dogs around while taking her time getting comfortable. She isn't the type of dog that's looking for an over-the-top wrestling partner right away, and she tends to move away if another dog rushes up to her with lots of excitement. Once she settles in, though, her playful puppy side starts to shine. Because she naturally watches and learns from the dogs around her, we think she'd really thrive with a confident, friendly dog that can continue showing her the ropes. She enjoys having another dog to look up to and gains confidence by following their lead.
Cherry is also currently fostered with three resident cats. According to her foster, believes the resident cats are her best friends, and they'd make wonderful playmates and will occasionally chase them in hopes they'll join the fun. During her assessment with our house cat, Biggie, however, Cherry surprised us in the best way. She approached him gently, respected his space, and even tried inviting him to play appropriately. Biggie was comfortable around her, and the interaction went very well. Since every cat is different, we'd still recommend an overnight kitty sleepover with a dog-savvy cat if you have feline family members at home, and we're happy to arrange that upon request.
Cherry is a smart little girl who's already off to a great start with her training. She knows how to sit, absolutely loves treats, takes them gently every time, and seems like the kind of dog that genuinely enjoys learning. We think she's going to be a lot of fun for someone who enjoys teaching their dog new tricks because she's eager to engage and picks things up quickly. She's also making great progress with potty training. Like any young dog, she still has an occasional accident while she's learning, but overall, she's doing really well and continues to improve with consistency and routine.
Crate training is currently Cherry's least favorite life experience. In Cherry's opinion, being asked to hang out in a kennel while everyone else gets to be together is a completely unnecessary rule, and she isn't afraid to file a very vocal complaint about it. Thankfully, she's still young, and with patience, consistency, and positive experiences, we fully expect her to realize the crate isn't nearly as offensive as she currently believes it is.
Because Cherry enjoys having space to stretch her legs and burn off those playful puppy moments, we think she'd do best in a home with a securely fenced backyard rather than an apartment. She'd be a wonderful fit for a semi-active family that's excited to continue her training, include her in everyday adventures, and then spend the evening relaxing together at home. We also think she has all the potential to become an incredible family dog for a home with children.
Cherry is one of those dogs that's easy to picture growing up right alongside her family. She's sweet, smart, playful, affectionate, and has the kind of personality that keeps getting better the more time you spend with her. If you're looking for a puppy that's ready to learn, ready to love, and ready to make herself right at home on your couch (preferably upside-down waiting for belly rubs), we have a feeling Cherry is going to steal your heart.

We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our rescue run USDA certified transport system, ensuring every pet travel safely and comfortably with 24/7 care. Our transport includes drop off locations, in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). Before the adoption is finalized, you will meet your pet through a video call, creating a fun and personalized experience!

At our 2-acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dogs growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!

Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+.
