DESCRIPTION
Meet Liliana!
If you're a Labrador Retriever fan but don't have the capacity for a full size Lab, look no further than the lovely Liliana. Weighing in at 38 pounds at 9 months-old old, Liliana is like a pocket version of a Lab with all of the lovability at less than half the size.
Rescued from a hoarder situation with 90 other dogs, Liliana comes with a few differences to navigate. Despite her tragic start, this sweet resilient girl is so full of love and affection for everyone in her foster family (both human and dog) as well as everyone she has come in contact with though sharing life with them. Liliana is initially a little timid when meeting new friends, but warms up within minutes with reassurance from her trusted people. Because of her background, Liliana is not a fan of being crated. She can be crated and does not bark or bite, but she will look at you like you've just betrayed her trust forever. She still loves you, though.
Since Liliana received no training in her youth, she still acts like a puppy in some ways. Her foster family has worked with her on training, but she still chews things she is not supposed to, criss-crosses while walking on the leash, gently play bites, jumps when she is excited, and loves to lick. She also cannot be let outside a fenced yard without a leash. Like we said, she is very much a Lab. She has learned sit, stay, leave it, and drop it since coming into her foster family's home a month ago. They are also currently working on leash manners and the place command.
Liliana adores playing with her foster parents' 6 month old shepherd mix and cuddling with her human family which includes 2 adults and 1 child. Her favorite place to be is wherever her humans are, but she also thoroughly enjoys backyard time and walks/hikes.
Liliana is fantastic with her foster family's 8 year old daughter. She has not been cat tested, but does not appear to have a strong prey drive.
Liliana has been socialized in multiple environments including dog parks, dog friendly stores, and dog friendly restaurants. She does well in all and will settle nicely.
To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application at https://savinghoperescue.org/adopt. It doesn't obligate you, but it is the first step. We don't get to all of the inquires but respond to all applications. Thank you for choosing to rescue!
ABOUT: LABRADOR RETRIEVER DOG BREED
The Labrador Retriever is a popular and versatile dog breed known for its friendly demeanor and high intelligence. These dogs are often used as guide dogs for the visually impaired, search and rescue dogs, and excellent family pets. Labradors are known for their great sense of smell, strong build, and love of water, making them exceptional hunters and swimmers. With their loyal and loving nature, Labradors have rightfully earned their reputation as one of the most beloved dog breeds in the world.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
