DESCRIPTION
*** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, or FOSTER TO ADOPT ***
Meet Stella! She is currently enrolled in our P.A.C.K. Program, a 9-week intensive program for routine obedience, agility, and handling training with a prison inmate trainer and she is almost ready to show off her new skills! Her new abilities include 'sit', 'down', 'shake' and more! New adopters should realize that PACK Program graduates will require regular, ongoing reinforcement of learned behaviors in order for them to become permanent.
Stella can be cautious and a bit timid when she first meets you. Once you gain her trust, she will be as loyal as they come. We don't think Stella had a lot of exposure to the real world before coming to us. She is currently on some anxiety medication that may need to be continued for a couple months into her new home.
She can warm up quicker to women than men. But she does overcome her fears, she'll just need someone who understands her and goes at a slow & steady pace.
She gets along with most dogs, but when they whine or show submissiveness, she gets snappy with them. She'll need to meet any new potential canine siblings to make sure it's a good fit. She'd also be completely content being an only child too.
Stella is kennel trained but can also be trusted outside the kennel. She appears to also be house trained. When introduced to cats, she did not react. With supervision and consistent boundaries, she might be ok living with one.
Because Stella can be quite nervous, we recommend a house with either no children or older teenage, aged children.
She will graduate towards the middle of November and would love a new happy and warm home in time for the holidays. Apply to meet Stella today!
