Labrador Retriever and Shepherd Dogs Available for Adoption

This beautiful girl is ONIX!

***Onix is being fostered in Shady Side, MD and is ready for a meet and greet!***

Onix is about 4 months old and 16 lbs as of late April 2026. We think she's a Lab / Shepherd mix. Best guess on full grown weight is no more than 40 lbs.

She is a super special and very sweet girl who was rescued from Puerto Rico and flown over to Maryland on April 16th. Her foster mom raves about her!

Onix is great with other dogs! She is being fostered with another dog in Maryland (also a Puerto Rican pup of similar size who the foster actually adopted from us!) and they play together quite a bit! In Puerto Rico, before she flew over, she was with many other dogs and was also wonderful with them.

Onix is in a home with children and does great with them.

Her foster mom also notes that she does not resource guard and you can take her food bowl away from her without an issue.

She is well on her way to being house trained. Upon coming to her new home, she only had a few accidents, but she is getting the hang of doing her business outside.

Onix is a sweet and happy puppy whose energy level is expected for her age. She's an active pup! She loves to play and then will cuddle up next to someone to rest. She absolutely loves being near people and sidling up against them while she naps. She loves the human contact. She also loves a plush blanket (see photo) and we can't blame her! She's making up for lost time and spending a lot of current time resting on the plushest of surfaces.

She also walks well on a leash and is learning how to have perfect leash manners.

She also mastered the stairs in no time (this is unique for a Puerto Rican pup as many of these dogs have never seen stairs before!).

She is fully vaccinated and ready to go!
