Lucy is a sweet, 14-pound, fun-loving Jack Russell Terrier from Barbados who is ready to find her forever family! At approximately 7 years old, Lucy has the perfect mix of playful JRT energy and a surprisingly laid-back side. She’s happiest when she can spend time with her people, explore her surroundings and, of course, chase the occasional squirrel, bird or fly!
Lucy is a medium-to-high energy girl who loves having something to do. She has a strong prey drive and will eagerly chase squirrels and birds outside. Inside the house, however, she has discovered one of her greatest talents: fly hunting! She absolutely LOVES chasing flies and proudly catching them whenever she gets the chance.
Despite her adventurous side, Lucy is wonderfully well behaved in the home. She is completely house trained and perfectly crate trained, although she has proven trustworthy enough to be left loose in the house when her people are away. She waits quietly for them to return and is more than happy to spend the day snoozing while everyone is out.
Lucy is not a big barker and is generally a quiet girl.
Lucy is fantastic with other dogs and would love to have a canine companion in her future forever home. She is also good with cats and generally pays little attention to them. Her compatibility with children has not been fully tested, but she is expected to do well with older, respectful, dog-savvy kids.
As Lucy settles into life in a new environment, she may need some patience and time to feel completely comfortable.
She can be unsure around loud or unexpected noises, so a calm, reassuring home where she can settle in at her own pace would be ideal.
Car rides aren’t currently Lucy’s favourite thing, but she’s getting better with them — especially when she learns that the destination might be the dog park!
Lucy would love a home with:
- A loving family who will give her time to settle in and build confidence
- A fenced yard or secure outdoor space where she can safely enjoy herself
- A canine companion to keep her company
* Plenty of opportunities for walks, play and mental stimulation
Lucy may be 7 years old, but she certainly hasn’t lost her zest for life. She’s playful, affectionate, independent when she needs to be and always ready to make you laugh!
If you’re looking for a sweet little companion with personality, energy and a serious talent for fly-catching, Lucy might just be your girl.
