Strudel is a sweet, complicated little guy who is still figuring out that the world can be safe.

With the person he trusts, he is incredibly loving. He wants to be close, wants to be in your lap, wants pets, wants snuggles, and wants to be part of whatever is going on. When he lets his guard down, he is soft and affectionate in a way that feels really special like he has chosen you, and once he does, he means it.

Strudel is still learning how to feel safe in a big world, but he is making progress. He does best with people who understand that trust cannot be rushed. Strudel is learning that new people and new places do not have to be scary.

He is a very quick learner. He knows his name, is starting to listen when asked to stop doing something, and is clearly trying to understand what is expected of him. He is crate trained, potty trained, and has mastered the dog door. He is energetic, playful, and loves chasing balls, even if he has not totally figured out the whole bring it back part yet.

Strudel has a big heart and a big personality. He is affectionate, playful, and very determined once he knows what he wants. With dogs his size, he can be a fun little playmate he plays tug, shares toys, and is starting to enjoy that back-and-forth dog friendship that is so sweet to watch.

Strudel loves affection, but he is still learning how to fully relax into it. Sometimes he melts right into your lap, and sometimes he needs a little space before he is ready again. The sweet thing is, when he has that moment to reset, he often comes right back looking for love.

Underneath the nervous moments is a dog who wants so badly to love and be loved.

Because once Strudel trusts you, oh my gosh. That is where the magic is.

He becomes silly. He becomes snuggly. He becomes the little shadow who wants to be near you, climb into your lap, and soak up every bit of love he can get. He has already come so far in foster care, and he is showing us that with patience, structure, and kindness, he can keep growing.

Strudel is looking for someone who will see past the scared moments and recognize the tender, smart, playful, deeply loving dog underneath.
