Meet Floki! A one year old, husky mix, and ready to fall head over paws for the right person.
Floki's story hasn't been easy. Abandoned as a puppy and stuck in a shelter far longer than a dog this lovable, ever should have been, he was even placed on the euthanasia list before catching a lifeline that carried him across the country for a fresh start. He's spent that fresh start proving just how much love he has to give.
He's friendly with everyone he meets, but make no mistake — Floki bonds hard with one special person, and he'll be every bit as devoted to you as he needs you to be to him. He's dealing with some abandonment issues (understandably), so he soaks up affection like it's oxygen. If you're looking for a new best friend or, as he'd put it, a new boyfriend, he will happily be your little spoon, sleep on the bed, and greet you with good morning kisses the second he senses you're awake.
When he misses his people, he lets out the sweetest little howls!
As for husky energy — don't worry, Floki didn't get the memo. He's a low-key, couch-potato kinda guy who walks nicely on leash, is fully house-trained, and can be trusted loose in the house when you're out. The one exception: he does not do well crated.
He's a smart boy who loves squeaky toys, is very food motivated (he's got great taste — think blackberries, cucumbers, chicken, eggs, and a little coconut oil), and gets along well with other dogs once he's had a little time to warm up. Cats are fine by him too, as long as they don't run, that instinct kicks in fast!
He's currently thriving in a home with active adults, an elderly family member, a six-year-old girl, another husky and two cats, so he knows how to fit into a full house.
He's also firmly in his teenage phase right now, which comes with a little "me first" attitude and the occasional need for gentle boundaries — but underneath it, he's a very good boy who just wants to belong to someone completely.
Floki has so much love left to give. He just needs someone willing to be as devoted to him as he'll be to them.
Foster-to-adopt is available. Floki's adoption fee is $500.
