MEET HENRY CHESTNUT!
Our professionally trained boy is looking for his person/s!
Henry Chestnut is an incredibly special 7.5-year-old Shepherd/Carolina Dog mix who has already done the hard work. He's currently at a professional board-and-train facility, where he's been doing just amazing with structure, consistency, and training. Henry was rescued from a crowded city shelter after landing on the euthanasia list simply because he was scared and the shelter was out of space. Since then, he's been given the time he needed to show everyone what an incredible boy he truly is.
Henry is currently thriving at this facility where he's become an absolute star student! He's highly responsive to commands, walks beautifully on leash, is crate trained, doing really well on off-leash training, and genuinely loves having this structure and routine in his life. He's also wonderfully balanced, and loves all the pets and accolades he receives from his handlers and previous foster family.
Don’t let his mid-age fool you, Henry is a higher medium-energy dog who enjoys good walks or adventures, but once his needs are met, he's perfectly happy curling up for a long nap.
What makes Henry special, though, is the relationship you can build with him!
Building your bond with Henry, he will hand his trust over to you. Henry needs someone who will let him settle in and come to them at his own pace. Once that trust is there, Henry has an affectionate, playful side that truly makes the patience completely worth it.
His ideal person enjoys training, understands canine body language, and appreciates a dog who thrives with consistency and clear communication. Someone who wants a true partnership, not a dog who simply follows along. And even better, you'll have support! Transition training with Henry's professional training facility is included with his adoption, so you'll learn the routine and skills that already work for him.
Henry can live with another dog with a structured and thoughtful introduction.
Henry needs someone willing to get to know him. Someone who will give him the time to feel safe, celebrate his progress, and discover the incredibly loyal companion waiting underneath that serious yet super cute face.
