DESCRIPTION

Hiya! My name is CASH and here's more about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

Breed: Hound/Retriever Mix

Age: 1 year and 2 months

Gender: Male

Weight: 63.05 lbs (28.6 kgs)

Height: (paws to top of my head) 72 cm

Length: 74 cm

CURRENT LOCATION: Mexico City

RESCUE STORY: I am a “community dog”. My owner was an elderly man experiencing homelessness, and when his health started to decline, he knew he would be unable to care for me. He did the best thing he could think of for me, and reached out to La Casa del Mestizo to help find me a home. Despite being homeless, he took good care of me - I know he loved me ♥.

TEMPERAMENT: I am a calm, playful, gentle, affectionate guy, with a peaceful and loving nature. Overall I am pretty balanced . I can be a little shy at first, but once I warm up, I am affectionate and love getting petted. I've been good at sharing my food, bed, toys and space with my dog friends without any possessiveness, tension or aggression! I have a healthy appetite. And I haven't been a barker!

MY IDEAL HOME/ADOPTER WOULD BE:

Of course a loving, patient home where I'll get lots of affection, playtime, and companionship.

Someone who understands that I might be a little shy at first meeting new people, but once I gain some confidence, I love getting head scratches. Here is a video of me meeting a stranger when I'm on leash; you can tell I am shy at the start but soon I'm leaning in for more pets!

Someone willing to keep up with my leash training (especially while I am getting used to you and a whole new country!). I've got pretty good skills already AND I am used to walking with a harness .

A home with or without kids, dogs, or cats - I've been friendly and gentle with all of them so far! Here is a video of me wrestling with one of my friends at the rescue - you can tell I listen to both the other dog and the human if we need to calm down our game a bit!

Someone who enjoys an active, playful, younger dog. Here is a video of me and someone I just met playing with a stick. And check out one more here where I am showing off with the stick .

ENERGY LEVEL: Medium (plays gently and is affectionate)

GETS ALONG WITH:

Dogs - Yes. I have been good at making friends so far! Here is a video of me right in the middle of a group of dogs of all sizes. Check out this video of me meeting another dog on leash. I let them sniff me and I sniff back without being too forceful.

Children - Yes, I've liked the older children I have met so far. Here is a video of me with children enjoying getting some head scratches.

Cats - So far yes. Here is a video of me with one of my cat roommates!

Even though I have been tested around children, cats and dogs and appear fairly comfortable, I still need an adult to advocate for my space and supervise all interactions.

PREY DRIVE: I'm not too sure how I'll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

Leash Skills - I love going on walks! Here is a video of me walking on a calm street, and here is one of me walking next to busy traffic. You can see in both I start off walking ahead a little bit, but I easily fall back beside my human, and am not easily distracted by my surroundings.

House Trained - So far I have been minding my manners and being polite! I have been using the bathroom when I go outside or using designated spots inside. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home.

WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

I am neutered and vaccinated. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.

I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.

I currently have no health issues and no allergies have been detected. I am clinically and physically sound and present no injuries or pathologies.

It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax ($750.00 + 5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
