Tammy is a 1.5‐year‐old, 38‐pound Hound/Labrador Retriever mix with a gentle heart and a quiet resilience that shines brighter every day. She’s the kind of dog who notices everything — soft voices, kind hands, calm energy — and she responds to that gentleness with slow, steady trust. Life hasn’t always been easy for her, but she’s learning what safety feels like, and each bit of progress is a beautiful thing to witness.
She’s still cautious in new situations, but she’s no longer the dog who pulls away in fear. Tammy now takes careful steps forward, looks to her person for reassurance, and is learning that walking on a leash can actually be comforting when she has someone patient by her side. Beneath her careful approach is a deeply loving girl who wants connection — she just needs the space and understanding to let it unfold.
Tammy absolutely thrives with other dogs. Their presence gives her confidence, comfort, and a sense of security she truly depends on, so she must find a home with a friendly, confident canine companion to help her continue blossoming. With a calm home, predictable routines, and someone who believes in her journey, Tammy will keep growing into the wonderful companion she’s meant to be — loyal, tender, and incredibly rewarding to love. She’s not just looking for a home; she’s looking for someone who sees her potential and is ready to help her step into her new life with confidence.
Tammy is spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped.
Given the conditions Tammy originated from, upon rescue, she tested positive for Heartworm disease. Thanks to Home for Good Dog Rescue, Tammy has completed her Heartworm treatment.
*Heartworm disease is a serious and if left untreated, fatal disease. It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels of affected animals, causing severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs in the body. Mosquitoes are carriers of heartworms and have the ability to infect dogs all year round, especially in the Southeastern portion of the United States and during the summer months.*
