Enzo balances a playful, adventurous spirit with a deep love for couch snuggles. He wakes up every single morning ready to shower his humans with cuddles and kisses. Whether you want to explore the neighborhood or spend a lazy afternoon on the couch is all in.
THE PERFECT PLAYMATE FOR OTHER PETS
Enzo is incredibly dog-friendly and submissive. His absolute biggest wish is to find a home with another playful dog! He desperately tries to initiate playtime with his current foster sisters, but even though they aren't interested, Enzo remains an absolute gentleman. He has fantastic canine manners and is deeply respectful of other dogs' boundaries—if a dog tells him to back off, he listens immediately. He has also been neutral and respectful around the household cats during the day. He would thrive in a home with another dog who matches his playful energy, or even a dog-savvy cat who wants a buddy.
TRAINING AND HOUSEHOLD NUANCES
• Potty Training: Enzo is ALMOST there! He understands that the outdoors is for potty time and successfully goes pee and poop every time he is taken into the yard. He is also consistent with using pee pads. He just needs a patient adopter who can keep him on a consistent routine (about every 4 hours) to prevent minor whoopsies.
• Warming Up: Enzo can be a bit skittish when meeting new people especially if there are fast movements over his head. He cowers and needs a moment of comfort. Once he knows you, this fear completely melts away. He would do best in a home with adults or dog-savvy older children. Men take him a little longer to trust.
• Separation Comfort: Enzo loves his people so much that he experiences some FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) and will whine when confined in his pen if he can see you, or when his favorite foster mom leaves the room. However, he corrects easily when told to settle. He improves significantly as he builds confidence and grows secure in a routine.
ENZO'S FAVORITE THINGS
• Sniffing around the yard and going for short, easy walks (he is excellent on a leash and doesn't pull!).
• Fetch! He passionately seeks out balls and toys.
• Chewing on his chicken-flavored Benebone (he is very easily redirected from things he shouldn't chew on).
• Poultry-flavored everything! Enzo is a bit of a culinary critic and exclusively loves chicken kibble and turkey wet food (he will politely turn his nose up at beef or fish).
RESILIENT AND EAGER TO LEARN
Enzo originally came to the shelter with a broken hip that was surgically repaired. He has healed beautifully and tolerated his recovery like a total champ! He is a smart little problem-solver who quickly figured out how to navigate and have fun during his recovery and crate rest. Because he is so smart, he is eager for basic training and would excel at learning more commands and fun tricks with his adopter(s).
