Hi everyone! My name is Dixie, and I'm a beautiful, big, fluffy Great Pyrenees girl looking for my forever family!

My story began when I showed up on a kind lady's porch and decided to stick around. She made sure I was safe and tried to find my family, but unfortunately, no one came forward to claim me. That's when the wonderful people at GPRA stepped in to give me a fresh start!

Now I'm staying at Pet Lodge Pet Resort, where I'm already making a wonderful impression on everyone I meet!

One thing you should know about me is that I absolutely LOVE people! I'm a sweet, gentle, friendly girl who seems to believe that everyone I meet is a potential new best friend. And children? I love them, too! I previously spent time around three teenagers, ages 15, 17, and 19, and enjoyed their company.

I'm also a pretty smart girl! I already know several commands, including Sit, Come, Off, and Down. Not bad for a girl whose past is a bit of a mystery!

And if you're looking for a walking companion, I might just be your perfect match! On my first long walk with a GPRA volunteer, I surprised everyone with my wonderful leash manners. I walked beautifully without pulling! I was much more interested in sniffing all the fascinating smells and exploring my new surroundings. There's so much to discover, and I don't want to miss a thing!

I also spotted another dog during my walk and greeted the possibility of a new friend with a happy, wagging tail! My friends at GPRA are still learning how I do with other dogs and cats, but I certainly seemed curious and interested in that first encounter.

I'm a gentle girl who enjoys affection and doesn't mind being touched or petted. I've also shown that I can be brave when trying something new. I was a little unsure about getting into the car at first, but with some encouragement, I climbed right in and rode along just fine!

I do have a curious, adventurous side, so my future family will want to be careful around open doors and cars. A secure yard and GPS tracking collar would be wonderful ways to help keep me safe.

Right now, I'm dreaming of a foster or forever home where I can relax, feel loved, and become part of a family. I have so much love to give, and I can't wait to share it with someone special.

My past may be a mystery, but my future doesn't have to be. I'm ready for a new beginning filled with love, laughter, leisurely walks, and plenty of belly rubs!
