NICKLE - Great Pyrenees and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption

Nickle (A570491) arrived earlier this week as a stray from Madison County after being found alone in a cornfield with no signs of an owner. For a young puppy, that is a scary way to start life. Thankfully he is now safe on our adoption floor where he greets everyone at the kennel gate and tries to make friends with every person who stops by. Nickle is a very sweet, social puppy who is easy to love. Nickle is adorable at 6 months old, but any future family needs to know that he is a livestock guardian breed. These breeds are loyal and incredible companions, but they can also be stubborn and independent. They are known for being escape artists and for wandering if given the chance. Whoever adopts Nickle will need secure fencing or be prepared to leash walk him to prevent him from slipping out and potentially getting hurt. He will also require routine grooming as an adult and will grow into a large breed dog. Nickle is wonderful, but he is not a low maintenance puppy. He needs someone who understands his breed and is prepared for the commitment of raising him safely. Nickle is estimated to be around 6 months and weighs 35 pounds.
