Welcome, dear reader, to the Official Aliza Handbook—your complete instructional guide to living with a 2.5-year-old, 76-pound Great Pyrenees whose primary goal in life appears to be convincing every available human that they should stop whatever they are doing and pet her. Aliza is what experts in the field would classify as a Big Ol Lovebug. She is gentle. She is chill. She is affectionate. She would like all of the pets, please. Basically, Aliza looked at the traditional Great Pyrenees job description and said, Interesting. Have we considered cuddling instead? Operating an Aliza is refreshingly simple.

Step One: Locate Aliza.
Step Two: Pet Aliza.
Step Three: Continue petting Aliza.
Step Four: Wonder how something weighing 76 pounds has managed to become approximately 97% marshmallow.

Thats it. Thats the handbook. Aliza has a wonderfully gentle, easygoing temperament and seems perfectly content to move through life without manufacturing unnecessary drama. She isnt trying to be the CEO of Household Chaos. She has no five-year plan for world domination. She is simply a big, fluffy girl who enjoys affection and has apparently decided that being loved is a perfectly respectable career choice. Alizas ideal home is less about having a complicated list of demands and more about finding people who appreciate the finer things in life: a gentle giant, a securely fenced yard, and the opportunity to provide belly scratches whenever summoned. She could happily be an only dog with an attentive family who has plenty of love to give. She also does wonderfully with other dogs and loves playing with her foster brother. When meeting a new canine roommate, Aliza appreciates a proper introduction and a minute to assess the situation. Once everyone has exchanged the appropriate amount of butt-sniffing paperwork, however, friendship can commence. She has even shown herself to be wonderfully gentle when playing with dogs much smaller than she is, which is considerate when you are built like a small polar bear. Cats remain an unknown, so we cannot currently confirm whether Aliza considers them friends, mysterious tiny roommates, or suspicious creatures operating under an entirely different set of household laws. She has been around kids ages 9 and 11 and is fantastic with them. Her preferred interaction appears to involve gently rolling over and presenting the belly for scratches, because Aliza understands that children have two perfectly functional hands and those hands could clearly be put to work. Aliza can be a little cautious when an unfamiliar person suddenly appears in her space. Basically, Aliza has appointed herself to Neighborhood Watch, but she's willing to update the approved-personnel list when management confirms someone's credentials. She really doesn't bark much otherwise. If she sees an unfamiliar person in her home or yard, she'll let you know. After all, she is a Great Pyrenees. Somewhere deep inside that giant lovebug is still an employee who takes security seriously.

On a scale of 110, Aliza clocks in at about a 4 for energy, which is an extremely respectable score for those of us who believe cardio should be performed only under very specific circumstances. She is a homebody at heart. Aliza isn't sitting by the door every morning wearing hiking boots and demanding you conquer a mountain before breakfast. She is perfectly content enjoying the comforts of home, although she does enthusiastically support the occasional car ride. And when we say enthusiastically, we mean this girl loves the car. She hopped right in when her foster picked her up and is happy to accompany you on a little drive. She also does beautifully on leash and is described as very gentle and well behaved on walks. No auditioning for the Iditarod. No dragging you down the sidewalk while you reconsider every decision that brought you to this moment. Just a lovely girl out for a stroll. While Aliza may be a homebody, she would 100% like a securely fenced yard included with her accommodations. She loves getting outside to run, wander, and explore. Apparently being chill indoors does not mean she has abandoned her need to occasionally patrol the grounds and investigate important developments.

Aliza is potty trained. She doesn't chew things she shouldn't. She doesn't resource guard. She doesn't have any known mischievous habits. Storms don't bother her. She knows sit. She learns quickly, and she can be trusted to free roam the house while her foster family is away. We realize this section is becoming increasingly difficult to believe. Her foster hasn't even needed to kennel her because Aliza has simply...behaved. Apparently no one explained to her that foster dogs are traditionally expected to provide us with at least one ridiculous story involving a destroyed household object and an innocent facial expression. Rude, frankly. We had an entire sarcastic paragraph prepared about household destruction and she has given us absolutely nothing to work with. ;) Water? No, thank you. Fetch? Also no. Aliza did not become a 76-pound Great Pyrenees so that humans could repeatedly throw an object away and expect her to correct their mistake. Toys haven't really been tested because her foster brother isn't particularly interested in participating in the concept of communal property, so they've been put away. She has no known fears or dramatic reactions, and neither thunderstorms nor fireworks seem to faze her. While other dogs may be composing their final wills because someone turned on the vacuum three rooms away, Aliza has one thing on her mind....is anyone available to pet me?

Now, before anyone starts commenting HOW DO I GET HER?!?! with 47 exclamation points and immediately clearing a spot on the couch that Aliza has absolutely already decided belongs to her, there is a process.

You have to fill out an adoption application. Not a Facebook comment saying, Interested! Not a DM consisting exclusively of Is she available? Not a solemn promise that you're a good person accompanied by twelve heart emojis. An actual application.

Once you submit it and our team completes the preliminary portion of the adoption process, we'll send your application to Aliza's foster family. They know her best, so they'll help determine whether your home sounds like the right match for their fluffy houseguest.

And because Aliza is currently being fostered in Owasso, Oklahoma, her adopter will need to come to Owasso to pick her up in person.
