Meet Mookie!
Mookie is a beautiful Great Pyrenees, around 7 years old and 70 pounds, who has spent most of her life being treated like a "yard dog". But Mookie deserves so much more than that. She deserves a real home, a soft place to land, and a family who loves her as a member of the family.
We've taken care of some important things for Mookie, including getting her spayed and seeing her through heartworm treatment. Now it's finally her turn to find the forever family she's always deserved!
Mookie is a calm, gentle girl with a sweet, understated way of showing affection. Despite her size, she's not a jumper or an in-your-face kind of dog. When she wants attention, she'll simply stand in front of you, hoping for some pets and those especially good head and ear scratches. She even likes to rest her muzzle in your hand.
She's very potty trained, but indoor living is still a relatively new experience for Mookie. After spending her life outside, she's understandably a little shy about coming into the house. A tasty treat can help convince her, and she'll use a doggy door if you hold the flap open for her. She's still figuring out what it means to be an indoor dog and tends to settle near the door rather than explore the whole house. She's making progress, though and will need a patient family willing to let her adjust at her own pace. A home that gives her lots of safe outdoor time is perfect for her.
Like many Pyrs, Mookie enjoys finding a nice cool spot in the dirt to stretch out and relax. She'll do a little light digging to make herself the perfect resting spot. She also enjoys the company of other friendly dogs and would be happy in a home with other pups or spoiled as your one and only. Toys and balls aren't really her thing, and she does appreciate having her own space when it's mealtime.
Mookie is a special girl who has spent far too much of her life without the comforts and companionship every dog deserves. She's not asking for much: a little patience, a gentle touch, a safe place to call home, and someone who will finally make her part of the family.

LOCATION & TRANSPORT:
This dog is currently in South Mississippi. Local and out-of-town adopters are welcome. For out of town adopters, we offer virtual meet-and-greets and can arrange transport to many states in the Northeast. (The $300 adoption fee includes transport to the city on this listing. Our transports run every 2-3 weeks to that location.) We cannot adopt to Rhode Island due to import restrictions.
VETTING:
All of our dogs are cleared by a licensed veterinarian for transport and arrive to their adopters spayed/neutered with age-appropriate vaccines completed and are microchipped. Note: We cannot guarantee full grown size or breed mix. Both are guesses based on physical characteristics and any known history.
