Meet Fanboy: Your Biggest Fan Is Here

Fanboy is a 1–2 year old Poodle mix (with a non-shedding coat) who was rescued from the shelter alongside his much smaller buddy, Calliope. Sweet, smart, goofy, and endlessly lovable, Fanboy is ready to become the most devoted member of someone’s fan club.

A Go-With-the-Flow Guy

Fanboy usually wakes around 7 AM on weekdays, but he is perfectly happy to sleep in when his people are enjoying a slower morning. He is never in a rush to get outside or eat breakfast, which he may start before his morning walk and finish afterward. He eats dinner around 6 PM.

Fanboy loves his walks and typically heads out about three times a day. He walks nicely in a harness, although his enthusiasm can get the better of him when he spots another dog he would like to meet. Squirrels and neighborhood cats catch his attention, but he has not shown a strong desire to chase them.

After his morning walk, Fanboy settles somewhere cool— often on the floor inside or in the yard with the door open. He seems sensitive to warm weather, so he appreciates having a comfortable place to relax. Wherever his person goes, Fanboy usually follows: the kitchen, bedroom, or backyard. He does, however, respectfully draw the line at following anyone into the bathroom!

Play Hard, Relax Hard

Fanboy is an energetic, playful dog who absolutely loves fetch. He will happily chase a ball, bring it back, and plop the slobbery prize directly into your lap. If you get distracted, he will place the toy in front of you and alternate between staring at it and giving you his most persuasive “please throw it” eyes.

Once he has had his fun, Fanboy is equally capable of settling down for a rest. He enjoys being near his people but is not necessarily a lap dog. His favorite form of affection is a good petting session— and if you stop before he is ready, he will gently nudge your hand to remind you that your job is not yet complete.

At night, Fanboy sleeps on a dog bed or the cool floor beside his foster family’s bed. He sometimes looks hopefully at the humans’ bed, but when he realizes an invitation is not forthcoming, he plops onto his own bed with an adorably dramatic grunt.

Smart, Polite, and Eager to Learn

Fanboy arrived in foster care already knowing “sit” and “paw.” He has since been working on “down,” “stay,” and becoming comfortable in his crate. He is intelligent, treat-motivated, and eager to please, making training a fun way to engage both his busy brain and playful personality.

He is house-trained and reliably takes care of his business outside, usually during his walks. He can hold it well between outings and will occasionally use the yard, although walks are his preferred choice. He does not chew furniture or shoes, though his toys should be prepared for an enthusiastic and possibly short-lived career.

Fanboy is still learning that his crate can be a comfortable place. He will enter it and wait nicely to be released, but he is not yet comfortable sleeping there. His experience being left completely alone has also been limited because his foster family works from home, so his adopters should plan to help him gradually adjust to a new schedule.

From Worried to Wonderfully Goofy

When Fanboy first arrived, he was shy and seemed worried about making a mistake. As he became comfortable, his true personality began to emerge. Now he plays, fetches, barks excitedly during games, and confidently asks for affection.

Fanboy has met dogs on walks and is very eager to greet them. His style can be enthusiastic and rather “in your face,” so introductions should be supervised while he continues learning polite canine manners. He may enjoy having a compatible dog friend who appreciates his playful energy. He has also done well with the teenager in his foster home. Because he can play energetically, any younger children should be comfortable around a lively dog.

Fanboy’s ideal family will enjoy walks, playtime, training, and having a cheerful companion involved in daily life. A yard would be a bonus, but regular exercise and interaction are what matter most. He would benefit from adopters who can ease him into being left alone and continue building his confidence, crate skills, and leash manners.

Fanboy’s foster family describes him as gentle, respectful, funny, and nearly impossible not to love. They would adopt him themselves if they could—and there may be no better endorsement than that. Fanboy is ready to find the people he can admire, entertain, and follow around for the rest of his life.
