All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.

Billboard: The Headline Act Your Home Has Been Waiting For
Billboard may be small, but this charming little guy is ready to take top billing in someone’s heart. He is a 2 year old, 15-pound Maltese mix who was rescued from the shelter and has quickly proven himself to be an exceptionally easy, affectionate companion. With his calm nature, playful side, excellent house manners, and non-shedding coat, Billboard has all the makings of a five-star family member.
The Perfect Start—and End—to Every Day
Billboard generally wakes around 8:00 a.m. and begins his day with a 20-minute walk, followed by breakfast. He gets a second walk later in the day and is already fully housetrained.
Once his morning activities are complete, Billboard is happy to relax on his comfortable bed while his foster goes about the day. He has a wonderful ability to settle and entertain himself without demanding constant attention. At night, he sleeps on his bed or the sofa, although he will occasionally choose to curl up inside his open crate. The crate came with him, but he does not need to be confined in it.
Calm Companion Meets Playful Pal
Billboard has a lovely balance of personalities. He is calm and easygoing around the house, but he also has a playful, energetic side and enjoys having fun with both adults and children. He can join in on the activity when something exciting is happening and then settle comfortably beside his person when it is time to relax.
He is especially happy sitting next to his foster while they watch Netflix, work on the computer, or sleep. Billboard loves affection and companionship, but he is not overly clingy. He does not need to follow someone from room to room or be the constant center of attention. He simply enjoys knowing that his person is nearby and that there is a cozy spot waiting for him.
Friendly, Curious, and Ready to Say Hello
Billboard was understandably a little nervous during his first couple of days in his foster home, but it did not take long for him to feel safe. Once settled, his friendly and curious nature emerged. He enjoys meeting people, happily greets strangers, and has even been friendly and cooperative with groomers.
On walks, Billboard is curious about other dogs and tends to match their energy. If another dog calmly sniffs, he is happy to sniff back. If a dog barks at him, he may answer, but he otherwise walks quietly and does not bark at people. He stays beside his handler and is an easy, pleasant walking companion.
An Easy Houseguest
Billboard does beautifully when left home alone. He is allowed to roam freely in the house while his foster is away, usually with Netflix or music playing in the background, and relaxes comfortably until they return. He has not shown signs of separation anxiety.
He is also wonderfully respectful of the home. Billboard does not chew inappropriate items, dig, or bark excessively. Most of his barking happens during play or in response to another dog barking at him. For a young dog, he has an impressive ability to settle and adjust to a household routine.
Grooming Billboard’s Star-Quality Coat
Billboard has a soft, non-shedding coat, which means he will need regular brushing and professional grooming to keep him comfortable and free of mats. His petite 15-pound size also makes him wonderfully portable and easy to manage.
Billboard’s Ideal Home
Billboard could thrive with an individual, couple, or family who wants an affectionate dog without needing a constant shadow. He would appreciate daily walks, playtime, plenty of love, and a comfortable bed where he can relax near his people. He may also enjoy living with a compatible dog following a proper introduction.
Billboard’s foster especially loves his calm, sweet nature and the way he is always happy to sit beside someone, whether they are watching television, working on a computer, or winding down for the night. He offers companionship without being demanding, playfulness without being overwhelming, and the kind of easy presence that makes him feel as though he has always belonged.
