Meet Finn!
This handsome golden retriever came to us by way of Hitchcock Road Animal Services where he was turned in as a stray and no one came to claim him. We can't believe he wasn't missed because he is an extremely sweet and loving boy!
While we are still getting to know Finn a little better, he is already settling in well at his foster home. He gets along well with the three resident male dogs in his foster home (two large golden retrievers and a Bernese mountain dog). He has not shown any tendency toward "marking" in the house, and for the most part, seems potty trained. He has a lot of love to share...so much that he really doesn't understand the concept of personal space! He has a hard time controlling his licker and if you get too close, be prepared for a sloppy, wet kiss (or three!).
Now, we don't know Finn's life before he came to us, but it's pretty clear that training was not a high priority in his former home. While he appears to know "sit", other basics like "no", "off" and "stay" are foreign to him...and we also know that Finn was a name given to him at the shelter and he really has not learned that it's his name yet. He is a very smart guy and learns fast, however it will be an adoption requirement that his adopters register him for a basic obedience class as he will be a much better family member with some improved manners. He is young and has a lot of energy - he would be a great running or hiking buddy and would also do well with another canine companion. He has not been introduced to cats yet.
