Tucker is a 6 year old, 70ish lb, male Golden Retriever who is being surrendered due to his family's situation changing and they can no longer take care of or meet Tucker's needs the way he deserves.
His prior family tells GRRAND: "Tucker is crate-trained and used to use it daily. He often would go in and chill even with the gate open. Now we don't use it because we moved and have a small room that he uses as his space. He free roams while we are home but while we are out he is in his crate/room. He likes to be fed where he can be by himself as he is very guarded of his food." Tucker is said to have lived with a cat, but GRRAND has not cat tested him.
Our GRRAND volunteer who has spent time with Tucker tells us: "Tucker has arrived at GRRAND full of life, love, and enthusiasm! Tucker makes friends easily but will also give a bark to let you know he has an eye on what's going on around him. He has a lot of muscle and is athletic in build but he needs to lose a few lbs to get down to a healthy weight. Tucker is a beautiful reddish Golden Retriever with light color highlights. He will need consistent guidance and training to walk on a leash. Tucker is enthusiastically treat motivated and at the end of our walk around the field, he was happy to sit at (and on) my feet and watch the world go by." His new family will need to have the time and patience to help Tucker with his adjustments to his new surroundings and new family.
