Lowie #7415 - Great Pyrenees Dog for Adoption in Louisville, Kentucky

LOWIE #7415

Great Pyrenees
🇺🇸
Louisville, Kentucky
August 15th
female, large, young

DESCRIPTION

Lowie is a 2.5 year old, female Great Pyrenees at about 80ish lbs who is looking for a special home that will have the time and patience to help her adjust to living indoors. Lowie has been kept on a chain outside and is looking for a home with a secure above ground fenced yard where she can roam and patrol (like the Great Pyrs LOVE to do!) in a safe and secure environment. Her new family will need to be committed to helping her adjust to the life she should have always known... being an inside dog, with a dog bed, getting lots of TLC, regulated food and all things families should provide for their dogs. Lowie is said to get along with other dogs but unknown about cats. Her former owner ultimately surrendered her because the environment no longer allowed her the freedom she had been accustomed to, and acknowledged that keeping her chained wasn't the life she deserved.

Our GRRAND volunteer tells us: "Lowie is quiet, gentle and sweet. She enjoys human attention and interaction and seems almost surprised when someone focuses on her or treats her with kindness or paying attention to her... but she likes it!

Despite having had relatively little experience being an indoor companion dog, Lowie has an incredibly endearing softness about her. Talk sweetly to Lowie, give her a little attention, and you begin to see this precious girl respond, and then comes the smile or smirk... call it what you want but it is happiness for her.

Lowie has the cutest little smirk that can look serious at first glance, but don't confuse it with a snarl! She is one of those dogs whose face changes when she realizes someone is talking to her, and that silly grin starts to appear as she enjoys the interaction. After a life spent largely on her own outside, watching her discover that humans can be there simply to love on her is pretty special.

Lowie has a lot of new things ahead of her. House manners, crate training and living indoors will all be unfamiliar territory, and she'll need patience while she learns what being a family dog is all about. But underneath that fluffy white coat is a sweet, gentle girl who already seems very interested in connecting with people. At just two years old, Lowie has plenty of time to discover a whole new way of life — one where she doesn't have to roam for freedom or sit sadly at the end of a chain, because she finally has somewhere she belongs.

We are still learning about Lowie, so please check back for more info, but if you would like to meet her, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org
