Rufus is 1 year old, about 78 pounds, and a Retriever/Lab mix with that classic golden look that makes people do a double take—and then smile when they meet him.

He came from a cruelty case, but you wouldn’t know it watching him now. Rufus moves through the world like he’s decided it’s going to be a good one—and he’s all in.

He’s friendly, dog-social, and just genuinely easy to have around. The kind of dog who fits into your day without needing a big adjustment. You’re heading out? He’s ready. You’re home for the night? He’s settled right in. It’s simple in the best way.

Life with Rufus has a little bit of movement to it—walks, fresh air, being part of things. He’s still fine-tuning his leash skills, but he’s already doing really well and improving quickly. He’s got that “I want to get it right” mindset, which makes him a great dog to build with.

And then there’s his presence—he’s a big, handsome guy with an even bigger heart. The kind of dog who leans in, stays close, and makes it very clear he’s happy to be yours.

He’d do great with another dog or as your main guy—he’s adaptable like that. More than anything, he just wants to be part of a real home where he can keep being exactly who he already is.
