Elphaba - German Wirehaired Pointer Dog for Adoption in Richmond, Virginia

Written: 10/22/2026
Age: 2yrs
Weight: 45lbs
Breed: Unknown, possible pointer mix

Meet Elphaba!

Elphaba LOVES her babies - specifically her plushy toys! She is learning what walking on a leash is all about, and is doing well with a little persistence. She is quite calm as she is figuring out her new environment, and just a gentle dog. She does well with other dogs and mostly minds her own. She is house-trained, calm in her crate, and confidently can go up/down stairs!

She absolutely adores people, easily shown by her desire to lean on anyone she meets and placing her head in your lap as she kindly asks for affection. She does great with grooming and tolerates baths and nail trims well! She also rides well in the car and seems to have a minimal prey drive.

She is being fostered in Richmond, VA and is up to date on core vaccinations, has been dewormed, and is on monthly preventatives. Her adoption fee is $375 and covers the cost of core vaccinations, microchip, and her required spay, along with the cost of her care while in foster. We require that all adopters, regardless of the dog’s age, are committed to ongoing training and socialization as part of responsible ownership. To apply to adopt Elphaba, visit www.beaglesandbentleys.org/adopt.

Spay/Neuter Disclosure:
Spay/Neuter will be scheduled when age-appropriate and is covered in the adoption fee. We require adopters to be within a reasonable distance of Richmond or Virginia Beach in order to complete spay/neuter with our approved clinics.

Note: Sending a Petfinder inquiry is not submitting an application. We require a completed adoption application to move forward with adoption.

Beagles and Bentleys has an across-the-board evaluative process that we apply to every application we review that prioritizes our animals in need. We conduct a vet reference check (all resident dogs must be altered/up to date on dhpp/rabies and monthly preventatives, and cats must be altered and up to date on rabies) and a virtual home visit call where we discuss the adoption process and see your home
