Poppy is located in Scarborough, Ontario. She is spayed and is about 4 years old.
Poppy is hoping her people are out there.
One of the five German Shepherds who arrived at the shelter together after being abandoned, Poppy came in with her devoted partner, Max, and their three daughters. She has been a wonderful mom, a loyal friend to Max, and now it's finally her turn to be spoiled.
Poppy is quite possibly the sweetest and most submissive of the bunch. There isn't a mean bone in this beautiful girl's body. She adores being around the other dogs, always wants to be part of what's going on, and has the gentlest, most loving nature.
Ask Poppy for a sit, and she's on it! It's definitely her best command, and she'll proudly plant her bum on the ground with a hopeful look, waiting for the reward she knows she's earned. Toss her a treat, and she'll give it her all trying to catch it... although she's not exactly an all-star receiver! More often than not, Max or one of the puppies swoops in to claim the prize before Poppy realizes where it landed. She doesn't seem to mind though—she's just happy to be part of the fun.
Like her puppies, we suspect Poppy has missed out on many of the good things every dog deserves. She likely hasn't had the socialization, adventures, or pampering that should have been part of her life. As an adult, she is more confident than her daughters and is quick to show her affectionate, eager-to-please personality, but she'll still benefit from continued socialization, training, and patient guidance.
Poppy is such a special girl. Sweet, gentle, smart, and always trying her best, she's ready for a family who will finally show her what the good life looks like.
