Meet Rex!
6-year-old | German Shepherd
If you're looking for a loyal companion who will quietly become your shadow, Rex is your guy.
Rex is a handsome German Shepherd with a gentle heart and an easygoing personality. He can be a little reserved when meeting new people or experiencing something unfamiliar, but give him a little time and you'll quickly discover an affectionate, devoted best friend who simply wants to be near his people.
One of Rex's favorite things in the world is his best friend, Vaeda. These two have shared their lives together, and Rex absolutely adores her. While he can certainly make new dog friends, he'd love nothing more than to find a home where he and Vaeda can stay together and continue their adventures side by side.
Rex is kennel trained, knows his basic commands, and loves learning when treats are involved. He's incredibly food motivated, enjoys a good game of fetch, and will never turn down the chance to chase a tennis ball. When the weather warms up, you'll often find him happily lounging in a kiddie pool or relaxing outside, taking in all the sights and smells.
He's happiest in a quieter home without a lot of commotion or constant visitors. Rex enjoys spending time with medium and large dogs that match his energy level, but because of his prey drive, he'll need a home without cats or small dogs.
Like many Shepherds, Rex loves being close to his people. Whether he's curled up on the couch, sleeping at your feet, or sharing the bed at night, he's happiest when his family is nearby. He also genuinely enjoys his kennel and happily uses it as his own safe space when the door is left open.
Rex walks nicely on a leash, but he isn't a dog who should ever be trusted off leash. His recall isn't reliable, and he'd much rather follow his nose than come when called, so a securely fenced yard and leash walks are the perfect combination.
Rex is also looking for someone who understands that every dog has boundaries. He isn't a fan of nail trims, ear cleaning, or veterinary handling and appreciates someone who recognizes when he's asking for a break. Respect his communication, and he'll reward you with endless loyalty and trust.
If you're searching for a calm, devoted German Shepherd who will happily spend his days by your side and would love to bring along his best friend Vaeda, Rex is waiting to meet you.
