Super sweet and deeply people-oriented, Penny is a resilient girl who has been through a lot and continues to prove what a true trooper she is.
Penny came to us in an emergency with a serious open wound on her chest that required urgent medical care. We believe the injury was caused by a snake or spider bite, and the surrounding tissue had become necrotic. She also developed infections with two stubborn, antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Thankfully, Penny has responded well to treatment and is recovering nicely in her foster home.
Through it all, Penny has remained an absolute sweetheart. She loves her people and wants to be close to them, and her gentle, affectionate nature shines through despite everything she has been through. We believe she is good with other dogs, although she has been kept separate while recovering to protect her health and give her body the time it needs to heal.
Penny still has a little more healing ahead of her, but she is doing well and has a bright future ahead. She is expected to be spayed in early November, and once she has recovered from surgery, she will be ready to find her forever home.
