Kona - German Shepherd Dog and Labrador Retriever Dog for Adoption in Pleasant Grove, California

NOTE: KONA IS WITH HIS PERSON IN OAKLEY, CA. GSRSV HAS NOT MET KONA. WE ARE LISTING KONA ALONG WITH OUR OWN DOGS ON THIS WEBSITE TO GIVE HER MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. PLEASE SEE END OF THIS PROFILE FOR CONTACT INFO.

Kona is an approx 55-lb, 2-yo spayed female GSD mix who is playful, smart and energetic. Kona is healthy, up-to-date on core vaccinations, and microchipped.

Kona is an all-around sweet dog and is perfect for a family with children and other pets.

Kona initially barks at strangers, but warms up quickly once she feels safe. She is good with children, having been around kids ages 8 & 10 years.

Kona is very friendly with other dogs, including small dogs, and loves to play at the dog park.

Kona is also good with cats. She interacted well with some cats when she was staying at another person’s house.

Kona’s people primarily keep her outdoors, but she is housetrained. (When she was younger, her people kept her in a “sunroom.”) Kona does fine in a crate.

Kona received some basic obedience training and responds to commands such as sit, up, down, come, jump and roll over. She was doing well on a leash until her person developed some health problems and was no longer able to walk her. Now, she does pull when she is walked, but that’s most likely due to her pent-up energy from not being walked nearly as often as before. Kona’s off-leash recall is only so-so.

Kona loves to go for car rides and is a calm passenger.

Kona loves to play fetch with balls and enjoys other toys as well.

Kona’s people (Hoa and his wife) adopted her when she was two months old. Now, Hoa has experienced some health issues and will soon have to undergo surgery. Hoa’s wife will not be able to care for Kona on her own, so they are seeking a new home for her.

Kona is located in Oakley. Her adoption fee is $100, per GSRSV’s policy.
