Meet Toro - 18 month German Shepherd
Toro is a very very intelligent, gentle and pretty calm dog - especially for his age. He shows a lot of curiosity and no aggression. Toro is working on trust, but is doing quite well and his foster Dad takes him everywhere to meet people and other dogs. He likes playing with the other dogs in his foster home.
Toro is food motivated which will help with training. He does need to learn basic commands and he is currently learning that counter surfing is not permitted. He will overeat if you allow it.
He is learning leash walking but he does get excited for walkies, and occasionally he’ll suddenly stay at your hip starting about halfway through the walk. His foster dad has been encouraging this with frequent small treats when he’s at the hip.
He is so smart that he seems to have not only figured out how to get out of his crate, but to also unlock and open doors and fence gates, oddly choosing to open the gates and go through rather than just jump over. This includes him letting himself back inside the house, opening the door to do so. He also figured out the hook latch to the basement door to steal cat food. Now that his foster Dad has managed to secure his crate better, he said, he hasn’t tried as much to get out when crated near his dog. Despite the foster home
being pets on furniture friendly, he does prefer the floor.
His adoption fee is $300 and that covers his neuter, microchip and vaccines until adoption
