Hope - Domestic Short Hair Cat for Adoption in New Albany, Ohio

There are stories of people who go into a shelter and ask for the oldest cat, or the one that’s been there the longest, or just the one that nobody wants, and takes them home to love. These are people with huge hearts, who care mostly about changing the life of the cat and get deep joy out of saving a lonely dejected creature. It is a selfless and heartwarming act of love, rewarded later when they see the life they’ve saved and the happiness they’ve given.

Hope isn’t the oldest, or the one with health problems or any disability. But she is one of the unwanted. Here is her story:

In the fall of 2017, a concerned man saw Hope living on the driveway under a car in his neighborhood with her kittens. The neighbor was mistreating her kittens and they were ill. The man took them all home. Most of the kittens got homes. Hope didn’t. She was shy and mistrustful and no one wanted her. She went to live with 11 other cats in his home, overwhelmed, lonely, and hiding most of the time. She was about 2 years old at the time. Because she wasn’t outgoing, she got overlooked.
This spring, her owner passed away. Homes were found for the other cats. The one cat she clung to was her daughter, but a place was found for her, leaving Hope alone, waiting in an empty house, afraid.

Hope went into a quiet foster home where she is doing well. She is shy and uncertain still. But she loves to be loved on and loves to be brushed. She prefers to come to you for attention and when you are sitting, she will come to you for pets. She has a huge purr! Surprisingly, Hope also loves to play, usually when you aren’t looking! She likes to do it secretly! She loves canned food and treats. Adopting Hope will take patience to give her time to get to know you. She needs a quiet home. She would probably enjoy having another gentle friendly kitty to cuddle with.

Hope is roughly 12 years old. She is negative for FIV and leukemia and is vaccinated and microchipped. She had a senior blood panel done which was very good for her age! No kidney issues. Over the years, her teeth have fallen out, so she has no teeth! Hope has no trouble eating, and will not have any dental problems to worry about in the future!!
