Taco was rescued on Cinco de Mayo… on Taco Tuesday… so of course, his name had to be Taco

At a time when our rescue had already just taken in 11 puppies under 12 weeks old from multiple litters, our assistant director left our property and literally found Taco standing on the side of a busy road. One more abandoned puppy that could have easily become another heartbreaking story.

Instead, Taco became one of our favorites almost instantly.

From the moment he arrived at our rescue, Taco fit right in. He was loving with all of our dogs, calm, incredibly well-behaved, and eager to learn. Within an hour, he had already taken to leash training. By that night, he slept quietly through the night in his crate.

This dog is truly a winner.

Taco is approximately 9 months old and was only 24 pounds when rescued, so we do not expect him to be a large dog. We definitely see Shepherd in him, but he is clearly mixed with something else that gives him his smaller size and sweet personality.
