Meet Canela

Canela is a stunning 2-year-old German Shepherd female with a heart as big as her ears. She weighs 56 pounds. She was rescued from a high-risk shelter in San Antonio and made her way to Wisconsin, where she raised a beautiful litter of puppies. Now that her mama duties are done, it’s finally her turn to find a loving forever home.

She is spayed, up-to-date on all of her veterinary care, and completely housebroken—this girl has impeccable manners. Canela is an absolute sweetheart with her people and does wonderful with kids. She forms strong bonds and loves being close to her family.

Canela does have a protective nature, which makes her a great alert dog. She may give a growl when someone unfamiliar approaches the home, but once she knows everything is okay, she quickly warms up and is happy to be petted. She is not aggressive, just loyal and aware.

She gets along well with other dogs that respect her space and boundaries. She is not one to start trouble, but she will correct a dog that is too pushy or repeatedly in her face.

One of Canela’s most adorable quirks is how talkative she is. If you are cooking, walking into a room, or even wearing something unusual, she will make little grumbles and noises to communicate. It is her unique personality and something her future family will quickly fall in love with.

She is crate trained and has never had an accident. She walks very well on a leash and stays right by your side.

Canela would do best in a home without cats, as she does enjoy chasing them.

Her adoption fee is $250.
