DESCRIPTION

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information.Just one look at Teddy and you’ll fall in love—those soulful eyes, his fluffy black coat, and his adorable little white-tipped paws make him impossible to resist! Teddy is about 12-weeks-old, a 9-pound bundle of playful energy, and oh so smart. He loves to stay busy, whether he’s running around the yard with other dogs, tossing toys around inside, or bouncing from one fun activity to the next. He would thrive in an active home that can keep up with his happy, curious spirit. While Teddy enjoys playtime, his favorite place is right next to his people. He enjoys being held when walking around and is happy to lay at your feet when he needs to catch a snooze! As he gains confidence, he’s also starting to explore more on his own and alongside his foster dog siblings. Teddy has been wonderful with young children (ages 2–5 yo). He’s also incredibly smart—he’s already doing great with potty training and has taken to crate training like a champ. This soft little teddy bear of a pup is ready to find his forever family!

Like all German Shepherds and herding breeds, Teddy will thrive in a home that provides structure, consistency, training, and plenty of physical and mental activity. His ideal home will be active, committed, and experienced with GSDs or similar breeds. A playful canine companion would be a big bonus!
Even with a fenced yard, daily walks and outings are essential to help Teddy stay well-balanced, build good manners, and avoid boredom.
Teddy has a big heart, a bright mind, and a sweet, loving personality. He’s ready to find his forever family!
Adoption Details Teddy’s adoption fee is $425, which helps offset veterinary expenses and allows us to continue rescuing dogs in need. We are a 100% volunteer-run organization and rely on adoption fees and donations to save lives.
