DESCRIPTION

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information.
Meet Jack — an adorable Australian Cattle Dog (Red Heeler) puppy with a big personality and an even bigger heart! This sweet boy is incredibly friendly with both people and other dogs, making him a wonderful companion for an active household.
At just 3 months old, Jack is already off to a great start. He’s doing well with crate training and typically only wakes up once during the night. He’s also making excellent progress with potty training!
Like a true Cattle Dog, Jack is smart, curious, and full of playful energy. He’ll thrive in a home that can provide plenty of mental stimulation and physical exercise to keep him happy and engaged.
Jack is the total package: affectionate, cheerful, and always ready for fun. He loves cuddle time, chew toys, and romping around with other pups. If you’re looking for a loyal, lively companion to grow up with your family, Jack might be your perfect match!

Like all Australian Cattle Dogs and other herding breeds, Jack will thrive in a home that provides structure, consistency, training, and plenty of physical and mental activity. His ideal home will be active, committed, and experienced with ACDs, GSDs, or similar breeds. A playful canine companion would be a big bonus!
Even with a fenced yard, daily walks and outings are essential to help Jack stay well-balanced, build good manners, and avoid boredom.
Adoption Details Jack’s adoption fee is $425, which helps offset veterinary expenses and allows us to continue rescuing dogs in need. We are a 100% volunteer-run organization and rely on adoption fees and donations to save lives.
The adoption fee includes:

Spay/neuter
Age-appropriate vaccinations
Fecal testing and deworming
Flea/tick and heartworm prevention
Heartworm testing (and treatment if needed)
Microchipping
