Duke - German Shepherd Dog Dog for Adoption in Colleyville, Texas

Duke is a playful, 4.5 year old German Shepherd mix! We have never had a dog that entertains himself quite like Duke. He will chase bugs, throw his toy up in the air and catch or chase it and is perfectly content playing alone! He is crate and house trained. If you pull out a treat, he will be sitting down before you even ask him He is good on the leash, LOVES playing ball, and has lived with other dogs and kids (we recommend older kids, as he is friendly, but not the type to be ok with kids laying on him, pulling on his tail, etc).

Duke can resource guard affection (he LOVES being loved on), so we recommend him being the only dog in the home or with someone who understands resource guarding behaviors. He does best with female dogs his size or smaller (large dominant males won't be a good match, but submissive medium size or smaller males would likely be fine!). He can also be protective of his family, while in the house, so the best fit would be a more quiet home without a lot of strangers or remaining crated when new guests are over (i.e. house parties or plumbers, etc). He does well with repeat guests who he has met in a proper manner, and is also very friendly while on a leash outside the home.

If you're looking for a great buddy that is easy to have around and brings some joy to your home, Duke is your boy!
