If you're looking for a best friend who wants to be wherever you are, Maverick is ready to fill that role. This handsome 3-year-old French Bulldog is equal parts playful goofball, cuddle bug, and loyal companion.
Maverick came into foster care after his loving owner became seriously ill and could no longer care for him. While this has been a big change for him, he's settling in beautifully and is ready to find a forever family to call his own.
His favorite things? Squeaky toys, bouncy balls, rope toys, car rides with the window down, zooming around the house, snuggling in bed, and—most importantly—butt scratches! He's a smart, curious, affectionate boy with a moderate energy level who loves to play but is just as happy curling up next to his favorite person.
Like many Frenchies, Maverick has plenty of personality. He's determined, entertaining, and keeps life interesting! If his ball rolls under the couch, he'll happily let you know until it's rescued. He sometimes plants his feet on walks when he decides he's done moving, and he may even surprise you by climbing onto a table if something catches his attention. He also has classic "Velcro dog" tendencies and prefers being close to his people. He doesn't enjoy being separated and may scratch at a gate or door if left behind, so he'll do best in a home where someone is around most of the day.
Maverick is completely potty trained and has had no accidents in foster care. In fact, he strongly prefers to save his business for walks instead of using the yard. He's good on leash (aside from the occasional stubborn Frenchie moment!) and knows commands like "sit" and "off," though he sometimes decides whether they're worth listening to.
He's social and, with slow introductions, enjoys spending time with other dogs. He can bark at unfamiliar dogs while out on walks, but once he gets to know them, he's playful and friendly. His foster family thinks he'd love having another young, playful dog in the home—his current senior Boston Terrier roommate just isn't interested in his play invitations.
Maverick is neutered, vaccinated, and eats Hill's Science Diet twice a day. He does have allergies that can cause paw chewing, licking, and scratching, so his future family should be prepared to help manage those. He also seems to have been free-fed and given table food in the past, so he's very interested in what you're eating—but he's learning that staying back when redirected earns him praise. One adorable quirk: he prefers not to eat alone and likes having his people nearby at mealtime.
